Home

We drove north again today up from Santa Barbara. It was nice to be in beach weather of mostly 78 to 85 degrees there after having a the "June Glooms" since May where I live near San Francisco on the coast (which means high and low fog most days with lows 50 to 55 and temperatures during the day of mostly 60 to 68 degrees or so since May on the northern Coast. It was a beautiful sunny day coming up Highway 101. Temperatures in the afternoon along the coast were about 77 to 72 degrees. The temperatures slowly reduced as we drove north from Santa Barbara. Gaviota was around 77 degrees and Pismo Beach around 72 as we drove north. I think it was around 95 degrees going through Paso Robles and likely Bakersfield (which we didn't drive through) was around 96 degrees which was one of the hottest places today in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. 97 today in Redding, for example.

Where I live for example, the winter lows are similar (this year) to the summer lows which is very unusual for any year I have lived on the coast, and I have lived here now since 1994 this time. Normal temperatures likely would be around 70 to 80 degrees here in August with fog every two or three days brought in by the higher temperatures inland. But, this year it appears to be we are in the June Glooms from May or earlier on into August or maybe even September this year which is very strange.
