The Two Party System

Since I was born the Republicans have said to the Democrats, "You are ignorant and naive and you aren't paranoid enough." Since I was born the Democrats have said to the Republicans, "You are racist, rich, abusive and you only think about yourselves and your own wealth!"

You know what? Both Parties are right(and wrong). So, in the end the general populace has to decide just how paranoid they need to be given the present world situations. This is what makes the two party system work.

When the common people were the richest(when money went the furthest)(when one man could easily support 5 to 7 people even without a high school or college education. This time was the 1950s through about 1973 and the Arab Oil embargo. One of the reasons Blacks and women and latinos and American Indians and all other minorities got rights was that the country was very rich during this time. Most of the infrastructure in China, Japan, Russia, and Europe had been decimated in World War II and we were the ONLY major culture and civilization with our nation and economy still intact. So then the United States economy ruled the world and could do no wrong. This has all changed. However, most people over about 50 refuse to accept it because, "How could this have happened?" People younger that 50 realize the United States economically might be on the wane on the world stage. People over 50 kind of hide their heads in the sand pretending we are still rich by allowing our government to borrow to pretend they are still as wealthy as a nation as we were 50 years ago now!

The two party system isn't really working because they world has changed. Globalization has made our democracy and economy redundant. Until we face this change America will inevitably continue to slide toward oblivion. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans have faced this or are talking about this at all. Both are living an old FAIRY TALE that ended by 1980!!!
