U.S. Household Income

The average U.S. household income slid to $50,054 last year which adjusted for inflation and is the lowest level since the mid 1990s. 2 million more people were working but their earnings declined by 2 1/2 %.   46 million people in the U.S. are living at the poverty rate.

The Good news
More Americans had health coverage
less people now 48.6 million people are uninsured
The percentage of Americans with private insurance held steady after years of decline.

There was a mediocre disappointing decade financially in the U.S. and then we had a financial Crisis and that explains why the income rate is back to the mid to late 1990s.

One of the bigger problems is that wage gains have fallen behind inflation, the market is so weak that it is hard for people to get raises and because there are raises in the energy market. And the unemployment rate is still 4% for all college graduates. There are some high wage jobs and there are a whole lot of low wage jobs and there are only some middle wage jobs in the U.S.

All facts from PBS News (luckily I have a Tivo and can replay slowly to report this to you here.) This was all from PBS News on 9-12-12
