My son has experienced this several times now and so have I on our Ipads. It is usually caused by leaving it on with the magnetic face shut off. If you do this and the IPad is vertical like in a backpack or other ways of storing it it will sometimes just click on and off until the on face of the Ipad drains the power out of it over a few hours or days.
So, when you try to turn your Ipad on you think there is something wrong with it because it is dead.
But, there is nothing wrong with your Ipad except maybe it's interface with the magnetic face case it is in.
My Solution to this problem:
My solution is just to push the black button on the upper left side corner of your Ipad and hold it a few seconds until your face turns off. It isn't off it is only sleeping. If you push that button again whenever you want to use it it will come back on.
So, in this way you are completely avoiding the magnetic interface of your case with the Ipad and avoiding ever having a problem where the Ipad completely discharges over the course of an hour or day or few days and having to spend a lot of time recharging it.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
