Spiritual Experiences are often life threatening or dangerous. What comes to mind is the Lieutenant Dan Story out of Forrest Gump in the movie. During the storm on the shrimp boat Lieutenant Dan has it out with God for taking away his legs and not allowing him to die in Viet Nam like all his ancestors before had in various battles. But, through this experience of complete rage with God which was also dangerous he came to peace with God. So, when they came back to shore they had the only working shrimp boat left. They became successful shrimpers because they were the only ones left there. Lieutenant Dan invested their money in Apple Computer so neither of them had to really work anymore. He later shows up with his new wife with artificial limbs a new man reborn by his experience with God during the bad storm or hurricane.
This is often what spiritual experiences that permanently change someone's life are like. It isn't easy. Often you almost die through these experiences or even witness other people dying or being maimed. But, in the end if you survive whatever it is, you have become honest with yourself and therefore have learned to pray and be honest with the universe and with God if you believe in God.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
