IF you speak with a PHD in Climate science they understand that Global Warming in the deep past triggered ice ages.
So, though logically you might think that moving north (if you are in the northern Hemisphere) would be logical to avoid things like Zika Virus (that is now in Florida and Texas already) might be a good idea.
So, a lot of people are preparing to move north to places like Alaska, Canada, Siberia etc. over time as more and more land opens up through global warming. And eventually even Antarctica (which is also a land mass covered by Ice and snow) is going to be available.
However, then there is the possibility of Ice ages caused by global Warming.
To most people this would be a crazy thought. However, if you talk to expert climate scientists this sometimes happens during a global warming.
How could this happen?
It is a fluke occurrence but possible of happening anytime now.
Here are the conditions that could start an ice age:
Global warming causes much much more evaporation off of oceans and all bodies of water including rivers and moist lands. This causes more precipitation.
When precipitation goes to a certain level in the northern hemisphere all you then need is a polar vortex coming down from the north into 10 or 20 inches of rain storms and you could have 10 to 20 feet of snow from the High Sierras all the way to the east coast with 10 to 20 feet of snow.
The clouds from all this evaporation then prevent enough sun to melt the snow. The snow creates it's own refrigeration effect and so more snow comes down instead of rain. So, once the first 10 to 20 feet of snow come down with too many precipitation clouds it goes off into it's own self perpetuating cycle of rain turning to snow with clouds preventing snow melting. This cycle continues until there is snow 50 to 100 feet deep from the High Sierras all across the country above Mexico. So, if people want to use roads they have to build tunnels through the snow or build roads underground in order to travel over the land. So, then you either fly (where you can clear the snow enough to take off or land on airports) or you have other problems. Or helicopters become much more important than now.
However, a technological civilization likely could adapt to this to some degree with houses and buildings whose roofs haven't collapsed by then from Snow loads exceeding building specifications.
