Our first Atmospheric River is supposed to hit Oregon and California on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday I believe

It likely won't hit very hard or at all in the SF Bay area. However, we have been getting a lot of smoke coming down the coast from inland from Arcata from the fires in the forests there. So, hopefully this first Atmospheric River will put out those fires for us. But, sometimes atmospheric Rivers when they hit burn areas freshly burning also create mud and rock slides and mudslides that you might have seen in videos on TV. Mud slides can be very bad here in California because of the severe changes in Altitude some places like From 14,000 plus feet all the way down to sea level. It is mostly on the deserts and in the mountains where the biggest problems can arise more easily from these kinds of problems but it can also happen almost anywhere if the conditions are right throughout the state.

It looks like it hits Washington and Oregon first and then slowly moves down more into California. They said it will bring at least 2 to 3 inches of rain which is a lot for this time of year (at least here anywhere in California).
