President Obama is staying in DC until his youngest daughter Graduates from High School and then moving to his new home in Palm Springs likely because it is warm there year around and he likes to golf a lot and he has a lot of friends in California, Oregon and Washington.
However, if Trump is actually inaugurated and survives the gauntlet of the Electoral College, he will be the only president we have. So, when a president comes in and is inaugurated it is stand together or fall completely as a nation whether you like that president or not. I'm might think (I still do) that Trump likely is going to get us all killed and maybe blow up the whole world. But, he also, might do some good too. Because you just never know. So, if he doesn't get all of us killed by some miracle some good actually might get done, even though global warming likely will be ten times worse by the time he is either impeached, or leaves office in 4 to 8 years time. So, millions are going to die (especially the poor) because Trump is in office. However, if he is inaugurated he will also be "The only president we have" until he is either impeached or leaves office alive or whatever might happen.
So, united we stand, divided we fall. So, finding a way to support our new president (whoever he or she turns out to be) is going to be important to all of us for all our survival ongoing.
There are good things and bad things about every president I have seen so far here in the U.S. since I was 3 and Truman was still president who nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war quicker so less U.S. soldiers would die.
Here is what I think of all the presidents in my lifetime:
I was too young to understand what a president even was in Truman's time because I was only three.
Then my grandfather bought a really big black and white TV (for then) and we all watched the Republican convention and my grandfather and father supported General Eisenhower for president. So, when I was 4 Eisenhower became president. He was a very calm sort of man that reminded me sort of of John Glen, the astronaut. He helped build freeways so people could get away from cities if the cities were nuked.
Then president Kennedy was elected and he was more like a Movie star president or King of Camelot like King arthur and his wife Jackie was like our Queen more than anything else then. So, when he was killed people were upset like someone had killed their king and everyone cried for a very long time here in California where I lived and was 15 when he died. The year before the Cuban Missile Crisis scared the living shit out of everyone and I like the movie "Blast from the past" which is a funny look at how people thought then.
Then Vice President Johnson became president and some people thought Johnson was involved in the Assassination so this was very strange. Recently I saw a photo of Jackie trying to get out of the convertible limousine and she had wet her pink dress after seeing her husbands side of his head blown off from the rifle. This I found sort of disturbing to find all these years later.
Johnson signed the Civil Rights legislation which was a herculean feat but his heart was so broken by Viet Nam that he died soon after he left office.
Nixon was always sort of strange bird always. HE was very smart but sort of paranoid too. He is the most like Trump which is why Trump might get impeached too. But, he was the best statesman president in the 20th century by starting trade with China by allowing a one china policy and starting to buy and sell things with them. We build China and stopped a nuclear war with them through Nixon and Kissenger.
Gerald Ford was always sort of a comic tragic figure because he pardoned Nixon in order to protect the office of the presidency, but not really Nixon. The office needed protection like it needs protection from Trump now because he has no respect for the office of president at all by his present actions and everything he says. It is only a means to make money to him.
Next, Carter was and is a very good man. however, he was not one who knew how to delegate authority properly and this I think was his major down fall why he wasn't elected for a 2nd term along with the hostage crisis in iran of U.S. Embassy personnel.
Reagan did many good and bad things. I think the worst thing he did was to break the back of unions here in the U.S. which began the death of the middle Class in the 1980s. We have all the economic problems now for the middle class and poor that came directly from the death of the unions through Reagan.
Bush I. I think someone who has been head of the CIA should never allowed to be president because he could theoretically blackmail literally anyone on earth.
Clinton. Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar and likely the most personable of all the presidents. He and Kennedy were likely the most loved presidents along with Eisenhower who ended World War II in Europe before he built freeways and infrastructure here in the U.S. like no one else before him except maybe FDR.
Bush II. Bush II was always a strange choice for president and likely the first dyslexic president, (I could be wrong about this). However, remember Einstein was also dyslexic too. The war in IRaq came from Saddam Hussein's attempt to kill his father, Bush I. Even though we did get rid of at least one problematic leader in the Middle East. Iran likely is next unless Erdogan becomes even more problematic to the world first like he has by destroying Turkey's democracy completely.
Obama. If someone had told me someone named Barack Obama could ever be president I would have told you you were nuts after 9-11. However, it happened. I remember being in Paris when someone helping me said, "Thank you for Obama, in French" I nodded and smiled. Everyone in Europe loved Obama which made it very easy to travel there then in 2009 and in 2011 when my family and I were there.
Now, there might be Trump who is a completely unknown quantity. He is known for saying one thing and doing another to an extreme degree.
However, my point of view is a leader with this level of Crazy Wisdom as president might get us all killed (or I could be wrong)
Someone who doesn't believe our intelligence services might also not survive to even become president. This is a fact too that shouldn't be discounted.
So, this is my take on all the presidents I have seen come and go since around 1950 when I was 2 years old.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
