I was watching PBS Newshour regarding midwest flooding and:
I was watching someone whose area was being flooded and he said that people had been told to raise their homes to a certain level above the ground because higher flooding was expected. However, where he was this year most of those raised homes were now underwater and he was lamenting the fact that no one is prepared for just how bad this is going to be this year in the midwest where often the Mississippi River and it's tributaries often flood because this year it's going to be much worse than it ever has been before and is regularly overtopping all levees that have been built in recent years.
