I was watching my DVR of Saturday night of last Saturday March 6 2010. On it Obama was represented as saying something like "Pelosi here will be re-elected because dominatrixs come in 3rd or fourth in that race. However, Reed here, Majority leader of the Senate is in trouble because even if 100% of his Nevada constituents were for Health care he would be in trouble this year."
I found the skit funny but also sad. We need a healthcare bill and the only reason we don't have something good yet is because of the Insurance and health care industry putting so many billions of dollars against it in adds that just confuse the general populace. Then the direct and indirect bribes paid to politicians to kill this bill might have once again given it the coup De Grace. However, with health care costs now being 16% of the Gross National Product and reaching 25% of the Gross National Product by 2025, without a health care bill, bankruptcy for this nation will be the only economically viable solution with out national health care.
If we had had TV during the Great Depression we probably wouldn't have Social Security now either. This is just something to think carefully about.
