end quote from Google:
I was listening to their political commentary on a video online this evening. And they were saying how unusual it is for Obama to be even or above Romney at this time. It goes against all previous elections in this because normally Obama would be 10 points down.
My reasoning behind this is Obama is a known quantity and Romney is a completely unknown quantity to the American People. 2nd, everyone knows that 9-11 and the Bush reaction to it caused most of the problems our country now faces not Obama. So that is another reason. So, what they were saying was the only President re-elected under these circumstances was Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Great Depression. And since if Obama hadn't rescued the Auto industry we would be in the 2nd Great Depression right now I think what is happening makes complete sense. People aren't stupid, they understand how we got here and how Obama has tried hard to get us out. And since Clinton is the most respected ex-President young enough to give a full speech like he did at the Democratic Convention they listened to him too because he is the last president to actually balance the budget and leave office with a surplus. So, just on an arithmetic level this Rhodes Scholar of President Clinton is respected by the people and even by Republicans at this point. So, because of all these things I agree with Brooks and Shields that we are in unknown territory not seen since the Great Depression.
