True Detective on HBO

I recorded   reruns of the first episodes of  True Detective on HBO. Since

  1. Matthew McConaughey - IMDb

    and Woody Harrelson:

star in it I thought it would sure to be good. However, I'm not sure it will work for me because it might be something like "Bones" mixed with "Breaking Bad" sort of the way things are being introduced. It might be a little too twisted and gory for my taste. So, I'll have to see which way the story goes.
I once watched the first 6 episodes of "Breaking Bad" and decided it wasn't mentally healthy enough for me to watch (after everything in real life I have seen in my life around the world)
However, I haven't even finished the first episode yet completely of True Detective.
They both are really great actors so I hope it is something not too crazy for me to feel comfortable watching. After having to deal with my mother from 2001 to 2008 with senile dementia I find I don't do crazy very well anymore. In fact, my crazy quotient was basically over by 1970 after surviving the 1960s and all that here in California.
So, a lot of programs now are not something I choose to do to myself anymore. Boundaries are more and more necessary to stay on an even keel as one ages I find.

later: I realized though this is extremely well done it is just too dark and depressing a program for me to watch at this point in my life. For me at least, it takes more from me than it gives to me which is how I define what is useful and what is not in some ways for myself.
