If you are a poor American you now are twice as likely to get rich if you become Canadian too

Why is this?

Because of their educational system and healthcare. Because you won't go bankrupt there (or your family over healthcare and education is much less expensive to get a degree in Canada than here in the U.S.

There are many other factors but likely the above two are the biggest ones so far that I have found.

So, it is possible (you have to do your own research here) that getting a degree in Canada (if you plan to work in Canada or Europe) might be a better path to riches than to get a much more expensive degree here in the U.S. if you are starting out poor. But, in order to make this worthwhile likely you would have to become a Canadian Citizen (I'm not sure you can have dual citizenship for U.S. and Canada but that might be possible too.)

One of my daughter's best friends has dual citizenship with U.S. and Norway. This way she can use the educational benefits of Norway and work either place. Recently, Norway was paying for her education in Dublin, Ireland when my older daughter visited her there. I believe a college education is free in Norway for all citizens.
