We found out about 1 week ago or more that Discovery Star Trek is available in HD on Amazon Prime for I think it is around 33 dollars for the first season. However, the 2nd season is about 3 dollars a show if you don't want to join Paramount for 5.99 (with commercials) or (10.99) a month for no commercials. After paying 33 dollars for the first season and paying 3 dollars and episode for the 14 installments of the 2nd season we realized there isn't a way to watch the 3rd season without joining paramount at least temporarily. So, I guess if we had known this before we might have joined for the 2nd season and the 3rd season Paramount in some form if we had known this.
Even though this series is pretty different than other series, what they have in common is that Captain Pike and Lieutenant Spock do show up eventually in this series. All three seasons appear to be directed by Johnathan Frakes who was 1st officer in the Star Trek Generations series with Picard and the rest. It's possibly the best thing we have seen that has been made for TV in the last year or so (back to 2017) when the first season of this came out from out point of view. However, my wife and I have always been Trekkies since it first came out in the 1960s with Shatner and Nemoy as Kirk and Spock too. in 1966. I would have been 18 in 1966 and my wife would have been about 11 years old then too even though I didn't meet her until 1994.
Anyway, this is a really good series and deals with interesting issues so I think you might be entertained by this. IF you try the first season at Amazon Prime then you will know if you want to keep going or not with it. So, far we have gone through the 1st, 2nd and now have started the 3rd season and I think the 4th season is also in the works I believe but I don't know more than that right now.
I was able to find out about the 4th season:
