McCarthy, on the other hand, seems to be following the more extreme elements of his party rather than leading them. He has no capital to convince the hard-right Republicans to take on a more reasonable position, nor would he have the courage to try to broker an alliance with moderate Republicans and Democrats to solve this problem once and for all. And he has not been effective at protecting a number of vulnerable Republicans in swing districts who can easily lose their seats — and cost Republicans their majority in the House — if the US defaults on its debt.

It could easily be said that McCarthy combined with Trump are signaling the DEATH of the Republican party (at least in it's present form).
However, since the U.S. needs two or more functioning parties in order to stay a democracy this is dangerous for the continued existence of our democracy in a Republic.
I think we should EXPECT Putin and XI to capitalize on this problem because why should they have a nuclear war with the U.S. when they can collapse our Democracy (and through us all democracies) by skillful social media posts rabble rousing the most insane here in the U.S. to violent or crazy actions like Trump did on January 6th?
It's important to note that without the Secret Service in action and the Capitol police in action both Pence and Pelosi would have been assassinated or worse on January 6th which could have ended one way or another our democracy.
