The smoke from the Post Fire Near Gorman:

Is now spreading from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas to Phoenix Arizona. This is one of the first really big fires of the latest fire season so far. Gorman and Lebec are on "The Grapevine" which is the section now of Interstate 5 from Santa Clarita to Lebec in California. It is very dry and almost desert like in this area and I could see how this fire will move the directions of the winds which might go towards the Coast of California eventually if they don't get it out soon. It is very rugged and hilly with lots of wild oats likely 2 to 6 feet high so it could be very dangerous for firefighters because of how fast something like this can move to the point where they might not be able to get out of the way. Also, very few roads up in this area so people might get trapped with their only escape road on fire sort of like what happened in Paradise California when so many died burning up in a traffic jam there with no escape.

It appears now to be heading in the general direction of Castaic and Santa Clarita which is very bad because there are many subdivision homes in that direction. But, it might be better than going remote where people are more likely to die with no escape because of so few roads to escape on that might be on fire in the coastal mountain range there.

So, basically bad conditions for fighting the fire and I think Interstate 5 has been closed because of the fire coming across the highway too back and forth likely.

The high Wind advisory is very troubling that I read on the Caltrans because this means firefighters and residents and travelers are in pretty extreme danger now with conditions like this. I would stay as far away from Interstate 5 and the Grapevine as possible in order to stay alive with conditions like this regarding not burning up in the Post fire now.
