Often these places are picturesque but without stores to buy things at or security of any kind. It's sort of like this. How would you like to live in a 50 unit apartment building in a city somewhere as the ONLY person living there? Some people who carry guns might like this but most people are not going to feel safe there.
Also, if no one is there would your car or stuff be safe as well as not having anywhere to shop and maybe no running water or electricity?
So, when someone says a 3 dollar home basically often you get what you pay for. But then, if it sheds rain and doesn't have rats or mice even if it doesn't have water or electricity maybe some people would be happy with that?
