The dynamics of Surviving in the Country compared to the City

 First of all it's important to know that the craziest most eccentric people live deep in Urban areas and the most remote living people in the U.S. as well. Both the deep urban people and deep remote people can be difficult or impossible to live around.

However, knowing this often country towns are okay to live near a small country town. But, it's important to recognize very entrenched red neck kind of people live there so you have to deal with Church going folks who can either be the salt of the earth or very problematic to survive around especially the "Church Ladies" who might never have left this small town and so are very limited in scope in what they actually understand about life in general.

However, all that being said, some of the happiest days in my life have been out wandering around on my dualsport motorcycle which was a 1974 Honda XL 250 that I owned from 1975 until 1989 when I gave it to my step son and he traded it for a Stereo system then.

But, also skiing cross country mostly metal edged on Mt. Shasta was wonderful from the mid 70s until I left living there the last time in 1992. But, also I continued skiing Mountaineering skiing and down hill skiing at Mt. Shasta Ski Park until around 2020 during Covid pretty regularly too even though I now mostly live near San Francisco on the coast at this point, especially since we bought a house here in 1999.

So, the point is you can make it in the country but the hardest part is usually making a living in the country. If you can master this then you can enjoy the country living which can be amazing with no smog usually in places like Mt. Shasta where I lived.

However, summers can also be smoky from forest fires every year too. But, i think this year at least there haven't been any or very few at least because I haven't heard of any bad fires near Shasta this year from my friends who still live there.

So, though living in the country is possible economically it is much harder in the city somewhere. However, rent or the price of homes is much less too living int he country. In fact, recently we priced homes in the Mt. Shasta area and the prices were about 1/2 to 3/4 of the price of homes in the San Francisco Bay area so this is good too especially if you are older and retired and want to move to the country by selling your home somewhere else.

But, it does take time to adjust to a country life but if you are like me you will love it!
