Health Care Debate

Dealing with the Health Care Bill for the American people is a lot like a person facing losing his house because he just lost his job. The harsh realities scare everyone. But it may be important to realize how many thousands and millions of people have been driven to their premature deaths just because they went bankrupt from job losses with no health care.

It is a harsh reality that we are one of the ONLY democratic technologically advanced nations that don' have some kind of health care taking care of our nation's health from cradle to the grave. The price we have paid all these years not having a good health care system has been too high in deaths and walking wounded for any civilized nation to bear in good conscience.

When I saw that the Catholic Nuns in America have come out for the Health care bill I felt a watershed had been reached where passage is assured by men and women of good conscience. The nation can no longer survive without a working health care system. Yes. This new bill isn't perfect but we have to start somewhere.

In the 1960s my generation sort of threw out the baby with the bathwater trying to make social changes happen. However, now unless we move forward our nation will not survive economically. Even though this particular Health Care Bill is not perfect it is the best one we have ever had that might actually get passed through Congress. And if it doesn't pass through Congress I feel it is the end for not only the Democratic Party but of Also the Republican Party. The Republican party will be just as decimated as the Democrats if this thing doesn't pass. Strangely enough, both parties will be considered completely irrelevant if this doesn't pass starting in this falls elections.
