This is such a big mistake it may unravel his whole presidency. He should have just let Representative John Lewis be and let him have his stance unanswered.
Obama is first of all a lame duck president going out. Second of all, the Democrats don't tell each other what to do. It isn't what Democrats tend to do. So, by Trump attacking Lewis he disempowered himself which likely is what Lewis thought he would do and thereby he may have just unraveled his presidency by stepping down from a Presidential level to Lewis' level.
This was an incredibly big miscalculation by Trump and likely a calculation by Lewis to unravel Trump by using his own way of functioning against himself.
Obama is NOT going to ask Lewis to change his mind because this is John Lewis who marched with Martin Luther King and almost died a couple of times from being beaten by cops and others against him. He is NOT going to back down nor would Obama ask him to do this I believe.
Trump made the mistake here. Lewis was just following his conscience like he did when he followed Martin Luther King. What Lewis is doing is an act of civil disobediance like if he was marching for Civil Rights.
This is a civil rights march against the Russians putting Trump into office and because Trump reacted the way he did I think you are going to see much more of this in the future.
