In other words the drone can take off by itself and fly to s specific location without an operator (theoretically and likely actually too). The operator aims at a specific target and shoots a hellfire missile at that target usually from a bunker somewhere in Middle America through satellite GPS controls. But, theoretically or actually the drone likely could do everything by itself and if it hasn't already in wartime situations it will in the future. Because it is completely capable of operating without any human intervention at all from takeoff to landing (especially if for some reason contact with the pilot or gunnery officer is broken for any reason.
So, in this sense these drones are potentially completely autonomous.
And it's only a matter of time before Drones have nuclear weapons flown autonomously and other countries might already be doing this like Russia, China or North Korea specifically. It is also possible that the U.S. has this capability too.
So, for example, if everyone was dead in a certain country nuclear armed drones from that country would still strike their targets anywhere on earth.
