Barry is completely "Mind blowing" in the way the writers take serious issues of the day and turn them into one of the most intense yet comedic Black comedies.
I really probably wouldn't want to watch this at all if it weren't so funny underneath it all in a "Deadpool" maybe kind of way.
You cannot help but love the character "Barry" with PTSD from Afghanistan and Iraq who was convinced by Fuches (what a name!) to become a hit man when really what he needed likely was psychological therapy from PTSD from killing people in Afghanistan and IRaq as a marine soldier.
You cannot help but love Barry when he meets "Sally" the dysfunctional in her own way actress which has a psychological condition akin to being "The opposite of military PTSD". But, what would you call her condition?
Maybe being completely unrealistic on every level?
The inability to be pragmatic.
So, Barry is completely pragmatic and when everyone dies around him his military training always saves him.
Then you have Sally who is his complete opposite which is "No pragmatism whatsoever".
But, then you have Barry who wants to feel something, anything after so much death in Afghanistan and Iraq. He feels something for Sally.
So, could these two opposites make it together in the world?
Maybe, Yes. The two of them might even make one whole person!
And this is the most funny thing of all in this series for me!
And who knows maybe this is the lesson of this crazy thing called Barry on HBO?
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
