1840 wooden bedframe with pineapples on top

 I had often wondered why people would carve pineapples on top of wooden bedframes on the four tall posts often 4 feet high. I found out today when I read the previous article. My wife inherited from the southeast from relatives one of these where many relatives were born before being born in a hospital became more common in the early 1900s.
