Loving to learn new things helps us to find new ways to survive physically, emotionally, and mentally and spiritually.
Adaptability might be the single most important quality of Longevity and learning new things is a part of this. You will often watch people who lived in the same place at the same boring job die younger both mentally and physically because they never really did anything new in their lives. It's true that extremes of anything boring or exciting can encourage early mental or physical death or a loss of mental or physical health.
But, I have found moderation in all things helps a person survive. So, learning in some ways to "Go with the Flow" of life is important too. If you are always fighting someone or some thing or some idea often this will bring a quicker end to your life too.
For me, the key to longevity is what I call "The Alchemy of Joy". What I mean by this is that if you can have fun doing all the things you do in life then life becomes more fun and you can enjoy life and then you actually WANT to be alive instead of wanting to be dead all the time because you are literally dying of boredom in life.
I can remember various times in life that people around me tried to make me believe that I couldn't succeed in life (which often people do without realizing it). I remember thinking to myself that I would rather die than do what they said I should do. So, I went off on my own and succeeded again and again even though this often surprised people at the successes I have had in my life.
As a direct result I have had 3 biological children, owned and run several businesses and my wife and I still own one business even though I'm presently 75 years old. I have traveled almost everywhere on earth that I have wanted to go. But, I still at 75 have a few places I haven't visited yet like Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti etc. still. But, most places I wanted to go to like Scotland and Switzerland because my heritage biologically comes from these two places more than any other I have been to. I've been to Scotland twice now, once in 1999 with my mother and then 10 year old daughter and once in 2011 with my then Grown up older daughter and my younger daughter and my wife and my older daughter's boyfriend then. But, I still would like to go to Switzerland again because I was only driving through there once going from Munich to Italy by way of Austria and Switzerland. I think Switzerland and Scotland are both places that I wouldn't mind living part of the year. However, I think both places in the winter time would be too cold for me now, (especially after growing up in California). Growing up in mostly Southern California can really spoil you in that you have good weather most all of the year. Even Rain was more rare when I grew up in Southern California (even though smog was really bad in the 1950s and 1960s) because we still burned leaded gas and Catalytic converters weren't required yet.
But, I found that going to college was much more fun than High School simply because I didn't have to be in school with such violent people as in high school. most people who were violent never made it to College anyway then.
So, going to college and taking courses ongoing as an interesting and helpful thing to do for my life, and my family was an ongoing thing for me from about age 18 to around 42 to 45 years of age. Of course I had to work too and owning businesses helped facilitate financially enough wealth to continue my education too.
So, fostering the joy of learning is likely going to lengthen your lives and make you happier too ongoing throughout your lives.
By God's Grace
