At the time being a computer programmer of COBOL and Fortran still haunted me because I understood how close we were to developing real Terminators even in 1984. Now we likely have things like this that cannot be distinguished from regulary human beings except maybe by a TSA screening device at an airport. I suppose a college level conversation would also demonstrate there might be something wrong with Today's military terminators from China, and Russia and the U.S.
But, when I saw this movie in 1984 I had tears in my eyes because I knew something like this was likely coming sooner or later. It was NEVER IF but only WHEN.
However, I didn't see then the form it would often take now which is things like Predator armed drones with Hellfire missiles or smaller drones dropping hand grenades at night with night vision into groups of soldiers (on literally any side).
Then the Cell phones we use all the time now are the targeting device for anyone's quick death by a drone. So, I suppose in a real emergency just like in the movies you would have to throw away your cell phones to stay alive once you have been targeted.
So, you can see why this movie haunted me when I saw it and it still does. But now, it has taken other directions like unmanned drones capable of deciding (at times) who lives and who dies autonomously worldwide.
As these autonomous killer robots proliferate worldwide more and more you will see more innocent people blown up in all nations of the world as drug dealers and criminals get a hold of these devices more and more as well as terrorists of all kinds. So, this is the future of the world right now this century as warfare evolves now into something completely different in places like Ukraine and Israel and Gaza right now and going forward the rest of this century.
