Though we expect rain by tuesday or Wednesday the weather is beautiful during the day but chilly at night

The high today here near San Francisco on the coast is 74 and as of about 2 pm Satuday it is presently 67 degrees where I am now with full sun and a clear sky which is beautiful with clear air off the oceans cleaned for thousands of miles by the ocean and rain storms off the Pacific Ocean from the prevailing East born winds primarily.

But, yesterday I saw many cirrus ice clouds which were very beautiful too which are usually a precursor to rain or snow storms here in California. I hear that Mammoth mountain and some other ski resorts are open already but I think primarily you would be skiing on man made snow that is possible when it is cold enough at night. But, chains have been necessary several times in the few weeks at places like Donner Pass on Interstate 80 over the Sierras towards Reno, Nevada from Sacramento, California.

This will be the first rain storm likely of any consequence this year but we have had drizzling rain storms with heavy fog too so far this fall too. But, the good news is that this has not been a bad fire season because of all the rain and drizzle and Atmospheric Rivers and Hurricanes turning into Tropical Storms like Hurricane Hilary did all this year.
