It's going to be 119 Degrees in Death Valley today
It's pretty early to see temperatures this high. However, in California temperatures right now are all mostly 10 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.
Also, a week or two ago while I was in Texas Death Valley hit 122 degrees which I think is some kind of record for that early in the summer ever.
However, where I live today because of the inland heat the high temperature on the coast of California where I live will only be 59 degrees and cloudy with high fog and wind. I woke up to a branch moving outside of a stain glass window in our house in our bedroom. I might have to trim that limb if it's up against the house otherwise the limb might scratch off the paint. I will have to check later.
I went out and trimmed some of the smaller limbs with a pole saw away from the house. Though the wind was blowing them towards the house there was no scratching against the paint yet so that was good.
So, though a 59 degree high at the coast today seems kind of cold and almost like winter again for California it is likely better than having over 100 degree heat like many or most places inland in California today.
For example, Redding only an hour away from Mt. Shasta is 107 degrees today. However, by tomorrow the heat wave throughout the west seems to abate some as you can see:
