Smoke from Post fire is still covering the Area from Gorman to Las Vegas to Santa Barbara to Los angeles and San Diego all the way to Mexicali and Yuma Arizona now. So, this is a big fire and it continues to grow. Hopefully they can go beyond 2% containment starting on Tuesday when the winds abate a bit. Other wise this thing could go all the way to the ocean within the next week or two. The problem is this is rugged terrain (mountainous) of the coastal range and it is mostly 2 to 6 feet high things like wild oats and thistle and things like this which was going to go up in a puff of smoke without really even trying. As long as these winds are like this they really cannot safely put firefighters downwind of this fire and keep them alive. So, air drops and fighting on the trailing edge of the fire is the best they can do while still keeping firefighters alive with winds like this.
This is the kind of fire that can potentially kill a lot of people like the paradise fire did too because of the lack of enough escape roads except directly through the fire which often kills people from Smoke inhalation or then burning up.
