The photo, taken by an agricultural officer at the Florida Agricultural Crimes Intelligence Unit, has been shared more than 9,000 times since it was posted on Facebook on Friday.
The alligator is already slinking back to the water by the time the photo was snapped, full-sized watermelon wedged between its teeth.
