Blogging while flying south from Portland

I'm presently flying south in a passenger plane from Portland to the SF Bay area with my wife. My son and family and I drove north last Tuesday first to Mt. Shasta where we spent 2 days and three nights. Then on Friday we drove north to Portland which is 5 to 6 hours under perfect conditions. However, since we were traveling with someone under 4 years old we stopped at places like Lythia Park in Ashland to play on the swings and run around some. So, it took us about 10 hours to Portland just like it took us about 10 hours from the SF Bay area to Mt. Shasta on Tuesday.

We are presently flying by Mt. Shasta which is obvious because of Shastina crater which is a part of Mt. Shasta. Maybe 20 minutes ago we passed Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams and we could see Crater Lake as we passed by too. So, all this before sunset is really great for us traveling south. It was hard to say goodbye to family in Portland but another daughter and baby are traveling north to see us tomorrow at our home so we had to hurry back to the SF Bay area so we could greet her and her baby.

So, it is an amazing flight to be clear enough to see all this. We are running ahead of a Polar vortex storm where it has already dumped snow in Seattle and in Portland we experienced hail as well as rain today. It's really supposed to let loose in Portland tomorrow and by Thursday it will hit Mt. Shasta as well. It was 39 degrees Fahrenheit at 9:30 this morning which kind of took our breath away since this is already April 2nd 2018, especially getting into the car none of us had jackets on because this was over 20 degrees colder than the day before.
