This might seem funny to you or not. But, this is the actual truth. Just like present day humans do archaelogical digs all over the world, future University students and professors do archaelogical experiential "digs" while pretending to be non-descript "normal humans" through Technological "Shapeshifting".
This might seem odd or funny to you but this is a perfectly normal thing to do. The whole point is to not change time with any big interactions. So, these people don't want to attract attention by standing out or by being "too beautiful" because that might cause real interactions and therefore change time.
So, what they want is only to be someone in a crowd that doesn't stand out. And if a government realized what they were, time would have to be altered and those that discovered this would be made to forget what they saw or realized. Because, after all, all our descendants still need to be born and grow up without screwing up time lines.
