I think enough 4 wheel drives and all wheel drives paved the way by packing down the muddy clay road out of Burning Man to the nearest paved road which is 1 or 2 miles away from the encampment that has been taking place yearly now since 1986. So, the people who want to get out are getting out mostly. Since people fly in for this event from all over the world now organizing people in and out and making sure everyone has food and water is paramount for this event to continue in the coming years.
That's one of the interesting things about this remote desert event: "people prepare for this quite well and then share what they have with other people so no one starves or is without enough water at this event. One of the people at the event said that the portapotties are getting pretty full what with 70,000 people still there even though likely 10,000 or more have left if they could in their campers and motorhomes from throughout the U.S. and likely Mexico and Canada as well. Or some people likely flew in from other countries to rent motorhomes that they drove to this event too. So, only 1 person has died this year there out of the 80,000 people there which is a pretty good record considering everything that is going on regarding about 80,000 people attending this thing this year.
The lightest All wheel drives like Subaru All wheel drives likely had the easiest time getting out and then also things like ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) with wide tires and sometimes Sand Flaps on those tires for use in some deserts with deep sand likely would have fared the best as vehicles to first get out from a situation like this. For example, one lady had asked to ride on the very back end of an ATV when someone important was getting a ride out on that ATV. She was given a ride out to the main road and then a Tow Truck towing a vehicle allowed her to ride into town and then she got an UBER to take her to Reno, Nevada which would likely be the biggest town near there where Burning man is in Northwestern Nevada this time of year.
One lady interviewed on CNN said that just trying to walk to the porta-potties to relieve yourself was exhausting because of the way the mud sticks to your feet about 5 or more inches thick in this wet clay form. So, she was saying that walking to the main road would be a very exhausting trek through this sticky difficult clay mud and many people likely couldn't do it unless they were real athletes or something.
