By the time we got there this evening they had completely closed it at Fawndale north of Redding because of a blizzard bringing at least 12 inches or more of snow since last night. It is now almost 9pm and we were able get a room for ourselves and another couple traveling in their own vehicle.
I kept checking Caltrans regarding interstate 5 but at some point they closed it off even to four wheel drives or 2 wheel with chains or even an all wheel drive with Snow tires or whatever. They said it would reopen between Gazelle just south of Yreka and Redding around dawn tomorrow morning after the snow plows gave maybe a multiple sweep without worrying about hitting other traveling cars and trucks up and down the grade from Redding to Mt. Shasta.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
