Why?
The people who mostly want to break away from California are people north of San Francisco and Sacramento. But, they don't have the votes to do this because 22 million people from Santa Barbara to San Diego and the 14 million people in the San Francisco Bay area are going to vote to keep the state one state.
Why will 36 million of the almost 40 million Californians vote to keep the state as one state?
Because it is not to their personal advantages to break the state up for a variety of reasons.
Why?
First it is the fact that alone California is the 6th most powerful economic force on earth at this time.
Why ruin a good thing?
Second, Water.
Which is why Northern California wants to separate from Southern California and San Francisco.
Northern California and the Sierras have all the major water in California except for the Colorado River. However, we have to fight Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Mexico for the water from the Colorado River, whereas all the water in the Sierras and the Cascades and the Trinity mountains originate in California so we don't have to fight any other states or countries for that water.
So, because of these things and others, California is going to stay one state for all these reasons and more.
It's because about 36 million of the almost 40 million people are likely to vote to keep the state intact for all these reasons and more.
Also, Trump hates California so keeping it intact will be helpful in case Trump becomes even more of a dictator than he is now and California has to become it's own nation separate from the U.S. because of Trump.
And this possibility likely more than any of the others is why Californians are going to vote to keep California ONE STATE.
Because we are one of the few U.S. states that could easily survive without the U.S. economically.
