What is the most important thing to survive serious health issues? Don't Panic!

Especially over 40 or 50 panic is often the biggest cause of death especially among people who have never been ill in their lives.

I have noticed this a lot about people through the years. People might say, "OH! I never get sick!"

But, when you actually do get sick this is often a very bad thing. Because you don't know what to do when you are sick to overcome these problems. You have no experience being seriously ill.

There is a story that illustrates this perfectly.

In the past sailors wore bell bottom pants because they could be used as life preservers in the water by taking them off tying off the legs near the crotch and using the bells to hold air as the tight weave of bell bottom pants will hold air in the bells of the trousers for a long long time if your ship sinks to keep you afloat and alive.

However, when ships sank in battles it was always the men under about 25 who died first from panic in the water. Whereas all the men over 25 thought, "Well. If I just stay calm and don't freak out and panic I might survive this too just like all the other crazy bad things I already survived in life.

So, the single most important thing to do in a bad illness is to not panic.

You want to be level headed so you can make the best decisions to stay alive always.

In 2015 I faced thing after thing that should have killed me or put me in a hospital for 30 to 50 days but by staying calm and having a good immune system saved my life each time.

So, by staying calm and level headed you are more likely to access the help you need to stay alive. Whether that help comes from God in encouragement to stay alive because you are alone on the open sea and your ship has sunk or whether you are waiting to be rescued or need a doctor or a nurse or just someone to help you to safety.

Not panicking and staying level headed and prepared to make useful decisions when appropriate is more likely to keep you alive to a ripe old age through anything you might face in life.

By God's Grace
