From her point of view the reason that Assad is not an enemy of the U.S. is that he has no plans to attack or subvert the U.S. which is an interesting point here.
ISIS wants to destroy the U.S. whereas Assad is more like Trump and completely corrupt and not really about attacking the U.S.
I would say Trump is 100 or 1000 times the threat to the U.S and the whole world that Assad is now!
Trump is actually the biggest Threat (along with Putin) to our democracy and world democracy in general, not Assad.
He very likely will be found to be a war criminal. But that doesn't mean he is a direct threat to the U.S.
(At least right now).
