So, if you have this sense of the magnetic fields where you live within several states or countries you are fine navigating because this Magnetic bone in your nose helps you navigate wherever you are. So, you have a good sense of direction as they say.
However, then if you get in a plane and fly overseas to a different place on earth often you are all messed up because your relationship to magnetic north has so completely changed that often you are turned around both from it being day when it should be night but also from a different experience with magnetic North and south. So, all you can do is to familiarize yourself with your surroundings as much as possible because your directional compass inside your nose and brain is all screwed up. So, then you might need a real compass or a real GPS locator or map or guides to help you not get lost wherever you are there on earth.
Note: I suppose if you had walked there or taken a boat there it might be different because these changes might be gradual enough to adapt to but this doesn't seem to work with air travel to the other side of the world at all.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
