There is reportedly a fire at a Nuclear power plant in Northeastern Japan. However, I'm not sure if this is the same one that they can't pump water at to cool the reactor so they are possibly worried about a potential meltdown. So, this is regarding either one nuclear plant or two. This problem was caused by the 8.9 earthquake that just hit Japan which is the biggest in 140 years there.
There are 4 million buildings without electrical power in Tokyo, Japan.
Fox News on TV is reporting that they can't cool one of their nuclear reactors there in Japan. It is presently 3:20 AM pacific Time in California 3-11-2011
So far there have been no reported radiation leaks.
Japan declares major emergency at Nuclear plant. 3:45 AM Pacific Time 3-11-2011. This is a cooling system failure. All 55 nuclear plants in Japan have been shut down.
Fox News says likely death toll already in 1000s. Presently 44 deaths reported and growing by the moment. This is a very major disaster on par with the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami that killed 250,000
people throughout Indonesia, Thailand, Ceylon and India primarily.
200 people stuck in Landslide in Sendai, Japan right now.
All Orange County Beaches will be closed in Southern California starting at 5 AM pacific time.
40 aftershocks greater than 5 from this quake already. Some aftershocks also generating minor tsunamis as well.
Here is something I found later on March 13th in the evening 2011 that will help your understanding of all this:
