I always called the "Fish scales" on the bottom of skis "riffles". But, a more proper name for them has been Fish Scales when I looked them up online. They allow people with cross country or Mounatineering skis to walk uphill on snow of literally any depth. So, you could literally walk uphill on snow 100 feet deep with Fish Scales. But, if you want to walk steep uphill then you need:
However, if you are really serious and want to walk up like 35% angles on snow you need what is called "Skins" which start at about $100 dollars to buy if you get the rubber or plastic ones. Originally I think people used actual skins to do this of animals on the bottoms of their skis which is why they are still called "Skins" today.
You could likely put "skins" on the two individual segments of your Splitboard which is a snow board that splits in two for going uphill. So, your snowboard becomes skis temporarily until you snap them back together. However, you would also have to take off your skins and store them in a backpack to use the snowboard downhill.
