When I first started having problems with my heart after returning from Hawaii a year ago by plane a friend of mine found out and called me and told me about d-ribose sugar. I now take a couple of tablets a day which are chewable and tasty just before or just after exercise to build up my muscles
including my heart muscle every day. I buy mine at Whole Foods from Jarrow formulas as chewable tablets and it says on the bottle (muscle recovery, energy endurance).
