The Circle: A Novel about Social Media gone 1984

Begin quote from Time magazine October 14th 2013:
You can't really write a 1984 for our times, because 1984 is still the 1984 of our times. But one could think of Dave Eggers' blisteringly didactic new novel, "The Circle" as a timely and potent appendix to it. The crux of "The Circle" is that Big Brother is still haunting us, but in an incarnation that's both more genial and more insidious. We have met Big Brother, and he is us.

several paragraphs later:
" Meanwhile the Circle (a combination like Google, Twitter and Facebook) is expanding, drawing more and more information into its circumference: it sprinkles the globe with cheap high-def cameras that constantly stream video to the net. Mae starts wearing a bracelet that tracks and broadcasts here vital signs and a headset through which she ceaselessly responds to marketing queries for the benefit of Circle's clients (she works for Circle). The more informatically transparent she gets, the more insubstantial she becomes as a person."  end quote from page 53 of Time Magazine October 14, 2013.

This sounds like an interesting book because for many people this is where they are presently going. This isn't my story because I choose to mask my full name even in my blog for the privacy of myself and my family and friends. So, this way I can help more people with what I say and only a few friends actually know who I am as intuitivefred888. Also, I choose not to use facebook or twitter more than about 1 to 4 times a year when I simply have no other choice. I prefer it this way.
