What is an Education?

What is an education? Some people would say, "Oh. You go to preschool starting at about 2 or 3, and then you go to kindergarten through High School in public schools and then you go to 4 or more years of college. But I would say to that kind of thinking, "That's not an education, that's an imprisonment!"

Rather, I would say, "What is it you want to do with your life?"
You might retort, "NO one really knows what they want to do until their late teens or early twenties if then."
Many people would say, "Well. Maybe people who have no idea what they want to do might need to be imprisoned in school most of their lives until about 22 to 25 because otherwise they might just get into trouble and be a problem for society." That's what a lot of people both think and feel especially if they are not parents.

However, if you can get kids interested in life and interested in doing all sorts of things then maybe if you have kids you don't need to imprison them, you might just help them learn and be what they want to be at every age.

This is the basis of home schooling and alternative education. The basic idea is "Don't imprison your children. Find out what they are interested in and in encourage them in positive directions for themselves and for mankind."

If you can keep alive the spirit of "Wanting to learn" instead of just letting public school bore them to death you have the solution to most of what's wrong with education not only in the U.S. but worldwide.

Children are not machines to be manipulated by adults. They are idea machines that need to be set free to save us all. All mankind can benefit from the creativity and ideas of the young. Set them free! So everyone can benefit from their enthusiasm and creativity! By the time most people have reached even teen age their minds have begun to close already. Take advantage of young children's ideas and enthusiasm to save the world! They are the future! Let them participate now and help create it!
