Since seaweed is about 70% iodine, eating seaweed is a way to fill your thyroid gland capacity and the other parts of your body with good iodine so they cannot fill with radioactive iodine. Also, it has come to my attention that one can get too much iodine and make oneself sick. So, in some ways eating seaweed might almost be better than taking too many iodine pills. However, you would have to eat a great deal of seaweed to reach your iodine capacity.
This might be one reason why the Japanese might do better with radioactive iodine because they tend to eat so much seaweed in their diet. So they might have less problems in general than people in the rest of the world who don't eat seaweed regularly in their diet in regard to radioactive iodine increasing in the atmosphere around the world as it will in the next few weeks and months. And after it goes around the world within 30 days or less it will then go around the world again and again joining the new radiation from Fukushima and radioactive Iodine and Cesium and other radioactive elements going round and round the world in a mostly easterly direction (at least in the northern hemisphere).
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
