Could the Government shutdown end the U.S. Government?

The short answer is "yes". Here is the reasoning behind this.  If Obama gave up on his signature legislation he would permanently lose face among all liberals and moderates all over the country and the world. He would never hear the end of it if he gave in now on Obamacare. For it to work it has to work now not 1 year from now. So, he cannot jeapordize his signature acheivement no matter what.

Then we look at the Tea Partiers. They can't give up either possibly ever on this. If they did they would be tarred and feathered (metaphorically these days) by their constituents in those most conservative out in the country counties in the U.S. everywhere. Where they were elected as representatives Obama likely got in those counties less than 28% of the vote nationwide.

So, could our government fall because of the present predicament? Yes.

But, if the Republicans will accept many other things than insisting upon Obamacare there might be an end to this. Otherwise Obama has no choice but to let this thing drag on for weeks or months.

When Gingrich and Clinton went at it in 1995 and 1996 the government first shut down for 6 days and then later it shut down again for 22 days for a total of 28 days. Because this problem is intractable it may go on for months this time unfortunately but that may be too late for the country to recover from.

What the tea partiers don't seem to care about anymore is whether there EVER is another Republican President. And because of this real hatred is directed towards the Tea Party from   liberal and moderate Republicans. So, as this goes on longer and longer I think the Tea Party in the end will be kicked outside the Republican party. Otherwise, the Republican party will be seen as not only the party of only white people but also the party of kooks that cannot be trusted ever to run the government.
