The Second Cold War is economic rather than nuclear?

The dawn of Cold War II: LA Times

The above article "The Dawn of Cold War II" is interesting because it says this war will not be as difficult as the first Cold War. Likely this is because so far this 2nd Cold War (at least in regard to Ukraine) hasn't been violent except in the demonstrators killed by sniper policemen recently.

And instead of bullets we have Russian Army? soldiers with loaded weapons with no insignia (who in some ways could be anyone who speaks Russian and possibly Ukrainian.

But, what weapons is the U.S. considering using? Economic ones that will target not nations but rather individuals trying to destroy the democracy of the Ukraine. Will this work? It's hard to say but it is realistic to think that many people including Putin will not have access to their money if it is in U.S. based banks if it is in Europe or the U.S. especially. So, this is an economic kind of warfare that I don't think could actually be happening if so many people weren't already pissed off about what Putin has been doing in Syria in regard to weapons going to Assad already the last couple of years.

So, what's next? Maybe Putin taking over any businesses and assets owned by the U.S. or Europe in Russia. However, that is a sort of self defeating thing to do for Putin because this sort of thing will end trade with literally all countries outside of Russia because who would trust doing business in Russia after that with Putin in power?

So, the next best bet might be to find a way for Putin to save face enough to actually agree to something useful for everyone.
