Seattle Muslim Teen Found Dead, Hanging From a Tree

    Seattle Muslim Teen
A Seattle Muslim teen was found dead hanging from tree and his family is asking for help from anyone who may know what happened.
The family of an 18-year-old African American Muslim is pleading to the public to come forward if they have any information about the death of their son who died under very mysterious circumstances.
The incident, which the medical examiner initially ruled a suicide, involves 18-year-old Ben Keita, whose body was discovered in a wooded area of Lake Stevens in January. He’d vanished in November. More than a month after his disappearance, Ben Keita’s body was found in the woods near the neighborhood.
“Ben was a happy young man,” father Ibrahima Keita told Q13 Fox. He said his son had no history of depression or anxiety.
Keita’s family were concerned that four of the young man’s co-workers were not interviewed before Lake Stevens police closed their investigation last week, but they did not say why those acquaintances should be questioned.
Arsalan Bukhari, executive director of Washington CAIR, a organization defending Muslims’ rights around the country, said that he has asked the FBI to step in and thoroughly investigate the case. “We just want to make sure that the expertise, the experience and the human resources of the FBI are brought to make sure everything is comprehensively investigated, no stone is left unturned,” he said.
The FBI said it would review the case to decide whether to open an investigation. The Seattle office of the FBI said in a statement it “is communicating with our police partners,” KIRO reported. “We are aware of the circumstances of the individual’s death and will review them with consideration of federal law.”
“We just want to make sure that the expertise, the experience and the human resources of the FBI are brought to make sure everything is comprehensively investigated, no stone is left unturned,” Arsalan Bukhari told reporters.
Since the election of Donald Trump attacks on immigrants, Muslims and Jews have multiplied across the country. This week a 35-year-old man was arrested for an ‘anti-Muslim’ attack in which he allegedly bit the victim’s face and hurled racial slurs. The man, Robin McGreer, approached a 31-year-old man at a shopping mall parking lot in McLean, Virginia, and started a conversation following which he threatened the man using anti-Muslim slurs, police said.
Also this week, A 32-year-old Indian engineer was killed and another Indian man and an American were injured in the apparent racially motivated hate crime. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, working at GPS-maker Garmin headquarters in Olathe, died of bullet injuries in a hospital. His Indian colleague Alok Madasani was critically injured. Witnesses of the shooting state that prior to opening fire, the attacker uttered racial slurs and yelled “get out of my country” at the two Indian victims, thinking that they were of Middle Eastern background.
