... The flood advisory for snowmelt remains in effect until 145 PM PDT Thursday for alpine and Douglas counties... * minor flooding impacts will begin in parts of the Carson Valley late Tuesday and continue through Thursday. * Warming temperatures will cause increased snowmelt this week. This increased snowmelt will raise flows in both the East Fork Carson and West Fork Carson rivers. * The increased flows will result in minor flooding along portions of the West Fork Carson below Woodfords and into the Carson Valley. This flooding will be confined mainly to farm and ranch lands near the river, but a few rural roads could be impacted. * Flows are likely to be highest during the overnight hours before falling during the morning. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Lat... Higher flows are likely farther downstream by the middle of next week, and the advisory will likely need to be extended into the Reno-Sparks area by Monday or Tuesday of next week. * Impacts... minor flooding will cover sections of the bike path along Highway 89.
