It would be a disaster if the average person knew for sure that time travel is real. I figure only about 25% to 40% of the people in the U.S. or on earth could handle this. Why?
Because many people have religions that talk about the end of the world in an Armageddon like scenario. But, with real time travel these events are all retroactively stopped. How?
Let's suppose a nation or city gets nuked by a terrorist faction with a stolen nuclear weapon.
Next, what happens is the Time Guards of earth (and sometimes Galactic Time guards as well) come in to fix time.
They go back and investigate in time who did this and why and then they kill them before they do it in the first place. But, it's also true that the Galaxy often handles this differently. The Galaxy often will prevent the births of people who nuke cities, nations or the earth itself so they were never born at all.
So, you and I don't have to experience this even though many of us have memories of these events anyway in our nightmares because some version of us was nuked the first time this happened.
It's one of the many reasons why people are more fucked up now than they were before the 1940s. It's because nukes have gone off where whole cities, nations or the earth itself was gone at least about 50 times since Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Those two events were left in time to remind people what can happen and to prevent further nuclear events from taking place.
However, as you can see they haven't been entirely successful in this or we wouldn't have about 50 cities, nations or the earth itself nuked out of existence including all their populations all these times since the 1940s.
