When I began to study with Tibetan Lamas in the U.S. and India and Nepal starting around 1980 one of the things they told me was that, "You don't become enlightened because you already are enlightened. You simply have to realize you were enlightened all along. So, it is literally more like a curtain opening on a stage and you are enlightened.
It is much more just like accepting what has always been. It is simply a way of looking at things which was always there and so simple you might have missed it by being told untruths by so many people for so long. It wasn't that they were bad or misguided people either. It was just that they hadn't been "unveiled" as to their own enlightenment yet in this lifetime.
Once you "See" yourself as enlightened, hopefully, you will never choose to return to an unenlightened state of being.
Acceptance of your enlightenment allows it to exist much the same as accepting that you can drive a car allows you to drive it once you learn to do this. Once you accept your enlightenment by realizing fully in body, mind and spirit you "ARE" enlightened. The only question then is how strong is your realization and are you willing to do what it takes to maintain your enlightenment unbroken ongoing throughout your present life and on into any future lives you might live?
By allowing your enlightenment to exist ongoing you tend to remove all fear and terror from your lives and all lives of those around you. Enlightenment is the only truth there is in the end. All else is a lie and an untruth as you will see or already have.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
