UCSB over the years

UCSB has always been known (my whole life) as an elitist party school. In fact, during the 1960s and 1970s it was known as a place to go to major in surfing and partying and sometimes experimenting with drugs. (even though might also be true of all beach colleges in the U.S.

However, over time the core group of people that attended there have always tended to be middle class to rich and prom queens and class presidents and fraternity or sorority members. In other words UCSB is somewhere that the Movie "Legally Blonde" the movie might actually happen in real life.

So, this is going to be incredibly disruptive to kids who have (had it easy) compared to the rest of the world.

Into this mix the shooter chose to go. But, he had been diagnosed with Asberger's illness: which is related both to high functioning autism and bi-polar disorder. On top of all this he had been bullied his whole life because he was small for his age always and even now was 5 foot 4 inches which might be normal in Asia and Asian cultures but here in the U.S. the average man is 5 foot 10 to almost 6 feet now and the average woman is about 5 foot 6 to five foot 8 these days. Milk with the growth hormones tends to keep Americans getting larger and larger each generation. I think it is about 1/12 of an inch average taller each generation of Americans.

So, into this mix comes a high functioning autistic who can likely get grades but who is going to socially suffer a lot. And who is also small so is going to be "put down" a lot without being able to defend himself.

So, with all these things in the mix you could see how this young man likely was going to commit suicide at some point possibly. The unknown is how his rage extended out to the people around him that he blames for his distress. When actually blaming them isn't useful at all. But, possibly because of being bi-polar and a high functioning Autistic he wouldn't be able to make sense of that. So, seeing all this suicide was likely but the murder suicide was horrific for the whole world to see, especially kids who likely have never dealt with anything like this before from middle to upper class families with a lot of their parents having graduated from UCSB in the 1950s through 1990s.
